Clippers Waive Xavier Moon, Joey Hauser

The Clippers are waiving guard Xavier Moon and forward Joey Hauser, as reported by Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times.Xavier Moon

These moves were foreseeable as the Clippers already have a full roster of 15 players on guaranteed deals, in addition to having all three two-way deal slots occupied. Moon and Hauser were on Exhibit 10 contracts, and now will be eligible to receive a $75,000 contract bonus as long as they spend 60 days with the G League affiliate, Ontario Clippers.

Moon, 28, 6-foot-2, who is the nephew of former NBA player Jamario Moon, went undrafted out of Morehead State in 2017. Since 2021, Moon has been playing within the Clippers organization, and last year for the G League Ontario Clippers team, he averaged 20.1 points (52.3% FG, 38.9% 3P), 3.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists.

As Moon finished each of the last two seasons on a two-way contract with the LA Clippers, he has appeared in 14 career NBA games, averaging 4.6 points and 2.1 assists in 11.2 minutes per game.

Hauser, 24, 6-foot-9, who is the brother of Celtics’ player Sam Hauser, went undrafted out of Michigan State in June. He previously signed a two-way deal with the Jazz over the summer, while playing with Utah in the Summer League, Hauser averaged 5.8 points (42.9% 3P), 4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

As reported earlier by Sam Amico, Hauser just signed with the LA Clippers yesterday, and now expects to provide elite 3-point shooting for the Ontario Clippers this season.
