The Clippers would include the No. 30 pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft to the Wizards as part of a three-team trade that would send Washington forward Kristaps Porzingis to the Celtics, per Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times.
Along with the final selection of the first round, the Clippers would send veteran forward Marcus Morris and guard/forward Amir Coffey to Washington, receiving guard Malcolm Brogdon from the Celtics in return, per Greif.
Meanwhile, the Celtics would receive Porzingis, teaming him with star wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, as we relayed here.
It appears all sides have more work to be done before a deal can be completed, ironing out the details. As Greif noted, it could not become official until after the Clippers make a selection at No. 30, citing the rule that prohibits teams from trading first-rounders in consecutive seasons.
At any rate, the deal seems likely to go down at some point, per Shams Charania of The Athletic, who broke the news of the potential deal.
Hoops Wire will have more details on talks between the three teams as the news becomes official.
