Could Lakers look at bringing in Quentin Grimes in offseason?

The Lakers do not have the luxury of patience with Luka Doncic. Not now. Not in the middle of his prime.

That reality is shaping every conversation around the Lakers as they look ahead to the offseason. The mandate is simple: Build a roster that makes sense around Doncic, and do it quickly.

One idea gaining some traction is a familiar one.

Lake Show Life’s Svyatoslav Rovenchuk floated the possibility of the Lakers pursuing Quentin Grimes, a player who briefly shared a backcourt with Doncic in Dallas before being moved along.

Rovenchuk noted that the Mavericks may not have fully realized what they had when they dealt Grimes to the 76ers. Injuries in Philadelphia opened the door for Grimes to play a larger role late last season, and he responded with production and confidence.

That usage has since normalized with the Sixers getting healthier, but the skill set remains.

Grimes is a combo guard who can score, space the floor, and play without dominating the ball. That matters next to Doncic.

This season, Grimes is averaging 12.7 points per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from three. Those are workable numbers in the right context.

The Lakers will have plenty of names on their summer board. Grimes is unlikely to be the headline move. But as complementary pieces go, the fit is logical.

And for a team trying not to waste a generational talent, logic should carry some weight.
