Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Cousins intends to sign with Guaynabo Mets of the Puerto Rican professional basketball league. The idea is to play organized basketball again and try to get back into the NBA next season. The Puerto Rican league plays in the spring.

Cousins, 32, worked out for the Lakers earlier this season, but remained unsigned. He indicated he couldn’t understand why no NBA team called.

“That’s honestly my biggest issue. That’s kind of the untold secret of the NBA,” Cousins said on SiriusXM NBA Radio, via RealGM. “I’m the type of guy that whenever I go through my hard times, my hardships, I look at myself first. What can I do to better myself? That’s something I pride myself on.

“I’ve asked many questions. I’ve reached out to former teams. I kind of get sugar-coated answers. I can never really get the raw honest truth. I’ve struggled with that as well. I would love to get a real answer.”

Cousins, 32, is 6-foot-10 and finished last season with the Nuggets after signing with the Bucks. He had been working out six days a week in Las Vegas in hopes of an NBA return, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

He has also spent time with the Clippers, Rockets, Warriors, Pelicans and Kings.
