If Giannis Antetokounmpo is headed to the Celtics, that’s news to the Celtics. And probably the Bucks and Giannis, too.
Despite some rumors making the rounds on social media (where else?), the Celtics and Bucks have not finalized or come close to agreeing on any sort of trade surrounding Antetokounmpo, multiple league sources told Hoops Wire.

The rumors also involve Celtics star Jaylen Brown. He’s not close to going anywhere, either.
This isn’t to say Boston and Milwaukee have shut the door on anything. But from the sounds of things, nothing is close, if the sides are even having serious talks at all.
League sources who spoke to Hoops Wire over the past week or so still seem to think Miami is the frontrunner should Milwaukee go through with trading Antetokounmpo. Some strongly believe he’ll be back in Milwaukee — and rather than trade Giannis, the Bucks will go after Memphis’ Ja Morant or another potentially available star.
As for the Celtics, it’s widely known that other teams will call on Brown. Boston might even listen. But the Celtics seemingly have no desire to move a player who was in the league MVP conversation this past season. You could make the case that Brown had a more inspirational year than anyone.
The Celtics weren’t supposed to be that great. Yet they had a regular season that was tons of fun. Brown was a massive reason why.
Is Giannis-to-Boston an impossibility? Of course not. Everything is in play. But nothing is close to agreed on at the moment.
