East Notes: Cavs, Isaac Okoro, Hawks, Knicks, Raptors

Cavaliers

Guard/forward Isaac Okoro very well could be on the move this summer, as we relayed here.

After all, Okoro is viewed as the Cavs’ most valuable trade chip by outside sources, given that he’s only three years into his NBA career.

The possibility of Okoro and the Cavs parting ways was also something written about by Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

“The Cavs will explore every path to offseason improvement — and Okoro is no longer viewed as a core player,” Fedor wrote.

“Any of the ‘expendable’ pieces could be dealt in the right deal. That means Okoro, the 22-year-old still-developing swingman who is beloved by teammates and members of the organization because of his ceaseless work ethic, team-first mentality and low-maintenance attitude. But the Cavs also don’t have as much time to wait for Okoro to develop.”

Okoro has indeed gotten every chance in Cleveland, and to mixed results. He does indeed work hard and bring some energy. But the Cavs would like to add a wing player who can consistently make perimeter shots. It may cost them Okoro to find it.

Hawks

The Hawks will be hosting their first pre-draft workout with six players coming in on Monday.

Invited to attend the workout: Jordan Dingle (Penn), Jarkel Joiner (NC State), Taevion Kinsey (Marshall), Tramon Mark (Houston), Olivier Nkamhoua (Tennessee), Anton Watson (Gonzaga).

Knicks

  • Guard Immanuel Quickley is listed as doubtful for Game 4 vs. the Heat with a sprained ankle, the team announced. We have more Knicks notes right here.
