Home Bucks East Notes: Nets, Ben Simmons, Raptors, Bucks

East Notes: Nets, Ben Simmons, Raptors, Bucks

Nets

Guard/forward Ben Simmons could potentially suit up for Team Australia at the FIBA World Cup this summer, per Australian coach Brian Goorjian.

“I think Ben’s mindset is getting healthy, getting in shape, and getting ready to play. And I think he has been along that line for a while and I felt it last time. As we sit now, there is a really strong chance that he plays,” Goorjian said, via Eurohoops.

Simmons missed the final stretch of the season, including the Nets’ playoff appearance, after his back issue flared up. But he is expected to be ready for camp, and perhaps even sooner.

Simmons did not play for Australia in the Tokyo Olympics.

“There were unfortunate circumstances he missed the Tokyo Olympics, but I feel like he is going to make himself available,” Goorjian said, referring to the World Cup competition.

Raptors

  • The Raptors have interviewed Bucks assistant Charles Lee for their coaching vacancy, via Marc Stein of The Stein Line. Lee is also said to be in the running for the Pistons’ vacancy.
  • Major changes could be coming to the Raptors this summer. Along with looking for a new coach, they could be altering the roster. We have details on that here.

Bucks

The Bucks are expected to “take their time” in trying to find a replacement for ex-coach Mike Budenholzer, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Budenholzer was fired on Thursday after the Bucks finished a league-best 58-34, but were then eliminated by the Heat in the first round of the playoffs.

Former Raptors coach Nick Nurse and current Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin have been linked to the Milwaukee opening, though multiple others will certainly be in play. Here are some potential candidates from Sam Quinn of CBS Sports.
