Raptors
First-round pick Gradey Dick suggested he’s already really liking Toronto.
“I’ve talked about it a lot, this team stuff — and even before the draft. I wanted to be in an organization where I could find that good fit in it, but also be in a winning culture with a fan base that’s not like anybody else, and I think I hit the jackpot … coming here,” Dick said via Doug Smith of the Toronto Star. “Walking down the street and families coming up, the first thing they say is: ‘Welcome to Toronto. We’re glad to have you.’ And I think that’s what we like to hear the most, rather than a quick: ‘Hi, bye.’”
Dick is expected to participate in the Las Vegas Summer League, along with fellow rookie Markquis Nowell and others.
- The Raptors are signing undrafted Texas Tech forward Kevin Obanor to a training camp contract, per Bryan Kalbrosky of For The Win. Obanor spent his first two college seasons at Oral Roberts.
Hawks
- The Hawks have waived two-way guard Donovan Williams, the team said in a press release. Williams appeared in two games with the Hawks at the end of the season, spending most of his time with the G League’s College Park Skyhawks.
- In case you missed it, the Hawks have agreed to a trade to send forward John Collins to the Jazz for forward Rudy Gay and draft compensation. We have that full story here.
Heat
The Heat have issued qualifying offers to center Orlando Robinson and power forward Jamal Cain, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Robinson appeared in 31 games as a rookie this past season and averaged 3.7 points and 4.1 rebounds. Cain, also a rookie last season, averaged 5.4 points and 2.9 boards in 18 appearances.
- Power forward Kevin Love is said to be drawing interest from the Bucks and several others (East rumors). He stands a decent chance to return to Miami on a one-year deal as well.
