ESPN Mics Go Out For Start Of Cavs-Magic Playoff Game

What a way to begin the NBA playoffs.NBA on ESPN logo

For the first two minutes of the Cleveland Cavaliers-Orlando Magic game, we saw a couple of 3-pointers for the Cavs and a basket by the Magic.

We just didn’t hear about them.

That’s because the mics for the ESPN broadcast went out right at opening tip. Eventually, analyst Doris Burke returned, by herself, and was forced to handle play-by-play duties. But it was 8-2 in favor of the Cavs before we even heard from her.

Burke apologized for the network, citing technical difficulties.

“We had some technical difficulties and now with our monitors, I just got taken out,” Burke said.

It safely can be said this was less than ideal for ESPN’s first NBA playoff broadcast of the season.
