A lot of speculation has surrounded free agent guard Facundo Campazzo, most recently of the Nuggets.
The latest comes from Christos Harpidis of TotalBasket.gr, who relayed that Campazzo is likely signing with Spanish powerhouse Read Madrid (via La Resistencia de Palau).
That said, agents David Carro and Claudio Villanueva denied that Campazzo had reached a deal with Real Madrid — telling EuroHoops that their client is looking to return to the NBA.
“Facu wants to stay in the NBA and we are working on that,” Carro and Villanueva said, via EuroHoops. “All the rest is pure smoke and lies. The market timings are different. That’s all.”
Campazzo, 31, is 5-foot-10 and hails from Argentina. He has spent the past two seasons with the Nuggets, appearing in 65 games in each. Last season, he averaged 5.2 points and 3.4 assists, shooting just 36 percent from the field.
Still, he is viewed as a veteran who can help someone off the bench. But with training camp about two weeks away, he remains without an NBA team.
This has led to the speculation about Real Madrid, and while nothing appears imminent, that could indeed be where he ultimately ends up.
