Former Lakers coach Frank Vogel interviewed for the Rockets vacancy and will be brought back for another round, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
“I’m told he was very impressive to the people in Houston,” Wojnarowski said on SportsCenter, via Ben DuBose of Rockets Wire, adding that Vogel is “very much in the mix” to replace Stephen Silas. “He’s going to be brought back again.”
Along with Vogel, the Rockets’ wide-ranging search is said to include former Hornets coach James Borrego, Suns assistant Kevin Young, Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin, 76ers assistant Sam Cassell (full post), former Celtics coach Ime Udoka and Warriors assistant and former Nets coach Kenny Atkinson (full post).
Udoka, Young and Griffin have also already interviewed with Houston, per reports.
Vogel, 48, did not coach anywhere this past season, but spent three years with the Lakers, coaching them during the 2020 championship season in the Disney bubble. He has also served as head coach of the Magic and Pacers.
