Grizzlies Lose Steven Adams for Season to Knee Injury

Grizzlies center Steven Adams will be out for the season following season-ending surgery for a knee injury, the team announced.Steven Adams looks to pass vs. the Suns

This is obviously a massive blow, given that Memphis will also be without suspended starting point guard Ja Morant for the first 25 games. Adams is having surgery on his right knee PCL, the team said.

Adams, 30, is 6-foot-11 and averaged 8.6 points and 11.5 rebounds in 46 appearances last season. He has proven to be a physical big man who frees up space for the likes of Morant, shooting guard Desmond Bane, power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. and others, not needing the ball to make an impact.

As Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal noted, the Grizzlies may now be in the market for a center, as Adams’ absence creates “a glaring hole on the roster.”
