The Grizzlies will be without center Zach Edey again.

The team announced that Edey will undergo left ankle surgery to address ongoing discomfort and talar bone stress. The procedure is designed to reinforce the medial ligament complex and promote bone healing.

Edey, 23, previously had surgery on the same ankle in June. While doctors determined his lateral ligaments are stable, he has continued to experience pain tied to progressive laxity in the deltoid ligament.

The former Purdue star has appeared in just 11 games this season but averaged 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 25.8 minutes. Memphis outscored opponents by 18.3 points per 100 possessions with him on the court.

A timetable will be announced after surgery, though his return this season appears unlikely.

The Grizzlies also said Brandon Clarke will be sidelined at least two more weeks with a Grade 2 right calf strain.
