Caris LeVert Game-Winner, 16-Point Fourth Had Hawks And All Of NBA Buzzing

For one night, all the talk in the NBA surrounded none other than Hawks guard Caris LeVert. And hey, why not?Caris LeVert, Hawks, NBA

That night was Monday (3/3), when LeVert Euro-stepped his way to a game-winning layup at the buzzer. It capped an improbable comeback at Memphis, as the Hawks trailed by 13 points with 9:09 left.

It also came off an amazing steal by NBA Defensive Player of the Year candidate Dyson Daniels, who pick-pocketed Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane and threw a perfect pass to a streaking LeVert. Layup good, Hawks somehow win, 132-130.

Quite frankly, it was one of the best moments in the NBA this season.

“It’s going out there and just making plays,” Daniels told reporters. “I just want to win games, and the playoffs are what we’re trying to get to, so we need to win some more games.”

LeVert was acquired by the Hawks in a trade with the Cavaliers at the deadline. The Cavs got De’Andre Hunter, who’s been magnificent. Atlanta got LeVert and Georges Niang, who haven’t been too shabby themselves. After all, LeVert scored SIXTEEN points in the fourth quarter of Monday’s riveting win, going for 25 on the night.

Of course, the Hawks barely have time to enjoy it, as they’re already back home preparing for a back-to-back against the Bucks on Tuesday. But that’s just life in the NBA. Every moment is fleeting. There’s always another game.

Atlanta (28-33) currently sits in ninth in the Eastern Conference standings, just a half-game behind the Magic for eighth and 1.5 games back of the Heat for seventh. All three of those teams reside in the Southeast Division.
