The Hornets have interviewed former Lakers coach Frank Vogel for their own coaching vacancy, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
Vogel is one of a number of candidates who have interviewed with Charlotte via Zoom, Fischer noted.
Vogel, 48, was fired by the Lakers immediately after the season, as a team featuring LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook failed to reach the playoffs. Injuries and fit had a lot to do with that, however, and he remains a respected coach around the NBA.
Other reported candidates for the Hornets: Former Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni, former Nets coach and current Clippers assistant Kenny Atkinson and Bucks assistant Darvin Ham.
Vogel has compiled a 431-389 record in 11 seasons with the Pacers, Magic and Lakers overall. The Hornets, owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan, are looking to replace James Borrego, fired after three seasons.
