The Kings held media day Monday, which meant players answering questions about the season ahead. In between press conferences, a live microphone apparently picked up a conversation about two of them.
As Larry Brown Sports relayed, voices on a KCRA live feed could be heard discussing Ben Simmons and Zach LaVine. One person called Simmons “cringe.” Another described LaVine as “cute,” then said his personality “f–king annoys me” and that he seemed “like a prick.”
Well, that’s one way to get a candid assessment at media day.
The speakers weren’t identified in the report, so it’s unclear exactly who was talking. They were also apparently unaware the audience could hear them. Anyone who has spent time around a live microphone knows those are two very different conversations: the one you intend to have and the one everyone else receives.
Simmons signed with the Kings this offseason. LaVine is entering his third season with the team. Both now have a little more insight into what was being said between press conferences than either probably wanted.
