Jennifer Ilgauskas, Wife Of Ex-Cavs Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Dies At 50

The wife of former Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has passed away, according to an obituary from the Zeis-McGreevey Funeral Home.Jennifer Ilgauskas Zydrunas Ilgauskas

Jennifer Ilgauskas, who died Sept. 11, was 50. A cause of death was not revealed.

While Zydrunas was known for his work on the basketball court, Jennifer dedicated herself to medical care in the Cleveland area and throughout Northeast Ohio.

Along with her husband, she leaves behind two sons, Deividas and Povilas Ilgauskas. Zydrunas and Jennifer were married in the summer of 2004, soon adopting the Lithuanian brothers from Zydrunas’ hometown of Kaunas.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas, 47, played for the Cavs from the time they drafted him with the No. 20 overall pick in 1996 until 2010. Along the way, he became a favorite of the fans, the franchise and teammates, including LeBron James.

He finished his career alongside James and the Heat in the 2010-11 season.

Jennifer’s obituary described her as follows:

“She always had ideas for growth and the never ending desire to achieve more. She truly enjoyed working and being a leader who led by example. She cared deeply about everyone she employed, and her door was always open to those who needed to talk. She was generous with her time, finances and counsel.

Jennifer supported a number of charitable organizations. Many individuals were touched by her acts of kindness, but few knew the far reaching extent of her charitable work. She was a wonderful giving and intimate friend to so many. Her vibrant personality and infectious laugh will be deeply missed.

Her family was extremely important to her. She enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations and made sure they created lasting memories.

Above all, Jennifer’s husband and sons were her first priority. She made their home a safe and loving place for making memories.

Her memory will forever be with so many. May that memory continue to bring joy to those who knew her for years to come!”

The funeral mass is open to the public and will take place at St. James Church at 17514 Detroit Ave. in Lakewood at 10 a.m. on Sept. 17.
