It appears the Miami Heat have a Jimmy Butler deal, after all. And he’s headed to the Golden State Warriors before tomorrow’s NBA trade deadline.
Per Shams Charania of ESPN, the Heat are sending Butler to the Warriors in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round pick.
Schroder, acquired by the Warriors from the Brooklyn Nets last month, is being re-routed to the Utah Jazz, per NBA insider Jake Fischer. “The Utah Jazz are playing facilitator once again,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, the Jazz will send forward P.J. Tucker, acquired last week from the Los Angeles Clippers, to the Heat, as relayed by NBA insider Chris Haynes. Anderson will head to the Toronto Raptors, Charania added.
This is an interesting trade agreement, to say the least. Multiple reports suggested Butler did not want to play for the Warriors, or that he at least told them he did not intend to sign an extension.

Clearly, he’s changed his mind — as Charania reported that he’s agreed to a two-year, $121 extension that runs through 2026-27.
Right now, the lineup will feature Butler, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, with young risers such as Jonathan Kuminga (when healthy).
Meanwhile, the Heat have been staying above water with the likes of All-Star Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo and others. They could be even better now that the Butler distraction has been resolved.
Butler, 35, reportedly preferred the Phoenix Suns as his next destination. But the Suns were unable to rework their maxed-out salary cap and find a deal. Part of that was due to the contract of Bradley Beal, who has a no-trade clause in his deal. Beal was considered Phoenix’s top moveable piece.
Either way, this ends up as a four-team trade with players still being re-routed and all details yet to come to the surface.
The pick being received by the Heat from the Warriors is for the upcoming NBA Draft and is top-10 protected, per NBA insider Zach Lowe.
Hoops Wire will update the news on this deal as it becomes available.
If the pick still has not conveyed by 2026 draft (very unlikely, it would seem), the Heat will receive GSW's 2027 first-round pick unprotected as part of the Butler deal, sources say. https://t.co/pl6x6LXsTo
