No Jimmy Butler? No problem for the Warriors — at least for now. Stephen Curry turned in a vintage performance, erupting for 36 points in leading Golden State to 104-93 win over the Rockets on Saturday.
Gary Payton II wasn’t too shabby either, flying around for 16 points in 21 minutes, with pesky defense and a knack for all the little plays that change a game.
Golden State simply wore down the Rockets in the second half, outscoring them 58-44 and flexing their championship muscle when it mattered.
Butler, by the way, worked out on the practice court before the game. Word is, the medical team held him out as a precaution — hoping two extra days will have him ready to go for a pivotal Game 4 on Monday.
The Warriors will look to grab a 3-1 stranglehold on the series then. It’s basically a must-win for Houston.
