John Wall Still Hoping For NBA Comeback: ‘I Have A Lot Left In The Tank’

Five-time All-Star John Wall is still hoping for an NBA comeback.

The Kentucky product told Sirius XM NBA Radio that he has “a lot left in the tank.”

Wall last played in the NBA in 2022-23. He appeared in 34 games with the Los Angeles Clippers before getting traded to the Houston Rockets, who waived the North Carolina native.

The 34-year-old Wall averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks for the Clippers while shooting 40.8% from the field, 30.3% from beyond the arc and 68.1% from the free-throw line.

The Washington Wizards drafted Wall with the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. Wall had a terrific career with the Wizards before injuries plagued him. The point guard averaged 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.7 blocks in 573 games with Washington.

Wall missed the entire 2019-20 season with an injury. He was traded to the Rockets in 2020 in the blockbuster Russell Westbrook deal. Wall averaged 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.8 blocks for Houston in 40 games.

The Rockets were rebuilding in 2021-22, so they didn’t play Wall at all.

Wall, who turns 35 in September, has career averages of 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.7 blocks. He made the 2017 All-NBA third team.

Wall scored a career-high 52 points against the Orlando Magic on December 6, 2016. He had a career-high 20 assists versus the Chicago Bulls on March 17, 2017.
