Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal isn’t the only player heading to the Suns, it seems. Fellow guard Jordan Goodwin has also been informed he is likely part of the Beal deal, per Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
Beal and Goodwin are headed to Phoenix in exchange for point guard Chris Paul, guard Landry Shamet, multiple second-round picks and possible first-round pick swaps, as we relayed here.
Goodwin, 24, appeared in 62 games with the Wizards this past season, officially his second in the NBA (though he played just two as a rookie). In 2022-23, he averaged 6.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and shot 45 percent from the field.
Robbins noted that Goodwin has “a strong feel for the game” and is “on an inexpensive contract.” That deal calls for Goodwin to make $1.9 million next season, though it’s only partially guaranteed.
So Robbins is probably right. Also landing Goodwin can be viewed as a low-risk, high-reward move for Phoenix.
We will have more details on the trade as the news becomes available.
