Kemba Walker, Pistons Still Trying To Reach Buyout Terms

Kemba Walker was traded by the Knicks to the Pistons this offseason, but don’t expect him to suit up for Detroit.Kemba Walker

In fact, it was reported months ago that Walker and the Pistons will part ways via a contract buyout. But that arrangement has been delayed, per James Edwards III of The Athletic. And it’s hard to tell when a resolution may be reached.

Walker will be giving up money, as any player does in a buyout situation. But right now, he’s having a hard time finding a new place to play — or a way to recoup the money he’d surrender in a buyout situation.

He has been linked to the Hornets, but that seems more wishful thinking from the media and some fans. Right now, the Hornets have clearly committed to nothing.

Some seem to think Walker’s run in the NBA may be done, though you would think he could still contribute in reserve.

Walker, 32, spent the first eight years of his career with the Hornets, prior to a couple of seasons with the Celtics. He had a rocky run with the Knicks last season, then was traded to the Pistons just before the NBA draft.

Walker averaged 13.7 points in 37 games with the Knicks, before being shut down by coach Tom Thibodeau and the organization.

As for Walker’s future, all he seems to know right now is it won’t be with the Pistons. But with training camp just a few weeks away, that has yet to become official.
