Report: Knicks Made Offer To Suns For Kevin Durant At NBA Trade Deadline

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the New York Knicks made an offer to the Phoenix Suns for Kevin Durant at the NBA trade deadline in February.

Durant was interested in getting traded to the Knicks, but the Suns wound up not trading the future Hall of Famer.

The Suns missed the playoffs this year despite having Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. They were so putrid that they didn’t even make the play-in tournament.

Meanwhile, the Knicks made the conference finals this year for the first time since 2000. They lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games.

New York fired Tom Thibodeau as head coach on Tuesday.

The Suns are expected to trade Durant this offseason. He has one year left on his contract.

One of the best players in NBA history, Durant turns 37 in the fall. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

A top 75 player of all time, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

Durant doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, but he and his camp are working together with the Suns to find a logical landing spot.
