Kings Expected To Shop Harrison Barnes

Kings small forward Harrison Barnes is expected to be on the market ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline, per Matt Moore of Action Network.Harrison Barnes

As we relayed earlier this week, reports say shooting guard Buddy Hield has also been made available in trade talks, and the idea that Barnes may be too suggests the Kings are looking to shake things up.

They already fired coach Luke Walton this season, replacing him with interim man Alvin Gentry. Now, some of the players could be next to go.

Of course, when it comes to the Kings, the emphasis is on could be.

“How many years have they been in this spot? How many times has Hield thought he’d be packing? I’ll believe they move those guys when I see it,” a source told Moore.

The Kings are among the teams that have been continuously linked to available 76ers guard/forward Ben Simmons. As Moore wrote, 76ers head of basketball operations Daryl Morey and Kings GM Monte McNair are tight — which tends to help when it comes to facilitating a deal.

Barnes, 29, is averaging 17.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 24 games this season. If he is, in fact, made available by the Kings, you can be certain the contenders will come calling.

“Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield are expected to be on the market. Barnes, in particular, will get a large amount of offers,” Moore wrote.

Along with Barnes and Hield, the Kings are reportedly very open to trading center Marvin Bagley III, a former No. 2 overall draft pick. Bagley has recently been linked to the Pistons, though that was before Walton was fired.
