It’s safe to say the Sacramento Kings aren’t satisfied with their current place in the standings. So they seemingly are looking for ways to do something about it.
Per Matt Moore of Action Network, the Kings are expressing trade interest in New Orleans Pelicans forward Herb Jones, Detriot Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic and even Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant.
Sacramento whiffed on landing forward Pascal Siakam, who was instead traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Indiana Pacers last week.
“After missing out on OG Anunoby and then Pascal Siakam, the Kings will continue to look for a forward upgrade,” Moore wrote. “Jerami Grant, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Herb Jones are among the names they’re expected to explore options for.
“If the Sixers decide to get spicy and need a third team to move Tobias Harris to, the Kings could have interest.”
Grant, 29, is averaging 21.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists, shooting 46 percent from the field and 41 percent on 3-pointers. He’s making $27.6 million and has expressed a desire to stay with Portland.
As we relayed here, the Blazers don’t seem too likely to trade Grant.
Jones, 25, is averaging 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals, shooting 48 percent overall and 38 percent on threes. He’s due $12 million this season.
Bogdanovic, 34, has been at the center of trade rumors seemingly since arriving in Detroit in September 2022. He is averaging 19.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals, shooting 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc. He’s making $20 million.
The Kings (23-18) won the Pacific Division championship last season, though they sit in seventh place in the air-tight Western Conference entering Sunday’s games.
