The Sacramento Kings are holding a free agent workout that includes point guard Isaiah Thomas and shooting guard Lonnie Walker, per Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 KTXL.
Others on the list include center Tony Bradley and wing Juan Toscano-Anderson.
Thomas, of course, was originally selected by the Kings as the final pick (No. 60 overall) in the 2011 NBA Draft. He spent his first three seasons in Sacramento.
His best seasons came several years later with the Boston Celtics, helping to lift the team to the Eastern Conference finals and averaging a career-best 28.9 points in 2016-17. But then the two-time All-Star suffered a hip injury and hasn’t been the same since.
He has bounced around the league plenty, serving stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets — all just since 2017.
Last year, he finished with the Suns, appearing in six games. Now 35 years old, Thomas has made it clear he aims to continue playing.
But while the Kings are holding a free agent workout, it’s unclear if they actually want to add someone to the roster. Or at least something other than their G League roster.
Walker, 25, might be the most intriguing name on the list, given that he appeared in 58 games with the Brooklyn Nets last season and averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and shot 38.4% on 3-pointers.
Sacramento could probably use some backcourt help behind De’Aaron Fox, given that first-round pick Devin Carter is expected to be out until January with a shoulder injury.
