The Toronto Raptors are trading forward OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks for guard/forward RJ Barrett and guard Immanuel Quickley, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Knicks will also receive forward Precious Achiuwa and guard Malachi Flynn in the deal. Per Woj, the Knicks have been in hot pursuit of Anunoby recently and intend to re-sign him when he hits free agency in July.
Anunoby, 26, is averaging 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game this season. New York (17-14) likes the idea of how he fits next to point guard Jalen Brunson and power forward Julius Randle, Woj reported.
Meanwhile, the Raptors have been spinning their wheels and going nowhere this season. They stood a chance to lose Anunoby over the summer, too.
“The Raptors (12-19) bring back Barrett, a Canadian native; Quickley, a high-scoring bench guard; and the 2024 second-round pick via the Detroit Pistons,” Wojnarowski wrote. “Barrett, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 draft, is averaging 18.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season. Quickley is averaging career highs in points (15.0), field goal percentage (45.4) and 3-point field goal percentage (39.5) this season.”
