It appears the Knicks aren’t done making moves — or at least trying to make another big trade.
Per Tim Bontemps of ESPN, New York may not be finished after landing forward OG Anunoby in a trade with the Raptors last week.
“League sources said New York will explore its options heading into the trade deadline in hopes of improving this team’s chances at a deep playoff run,” Bontemps wrote.
He then cautioned: The Knicks would love to throw that mountain of picks at a franchise-changing star, but that would require one to come available. They rarely do.”
The Knicks reportedly have been contemplating deals involving Julius Randle, but league sources told Hoops Wire they intend to keep Randle at least through the season — and see how things go with point guard Jalen Brunson, Randle and Anunoby as the core.
As Bontemps wrote, the Knicks are more likely to dangle draft picks in an effort to land another starter-type, if not an all-out star. They recently have been linked to Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, who is said to be available.
But as one rival GM told Hoops Wire, Murray may not really move the needle much, given how poorly Atlanta has done since he landed there.
