The New York Knicks are playing 1990s-style basketball all of a sudden. Or maybe it’s the 1920s.
Either way, the Knicks fell at home to the undermanned Philadelphia 76ers by a struck-in-the-mud 79-73 count.
Yes, that was a final score in 2024.
Interestingly, this took place one game after the Knicks beat the Magic, 98-74. So defensively, the Knicks are in great shape.
Everywhere else, well, without injured forwards Julius Randle and OG Anunoby, it’s been anyone’s guess.
Philadelphia, by the way, didn’t have All-Stars Joel Embiid or Tyrese Maxey. So there’s that.
Meanwhile, Knicks All-Star guard Jalen Brunson was 6-of-22 shooting and took the blame.

“I played like dogsh**. That’s it,” Brunson told reporters. But he was hardly alone in that department.
Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau added it “was a hard-fought game,” and that was indeed the case. He also mentioned the Knicks’ 19 turnovers.
“Their ball-pressure probably had a lot to do with that,” he said. “So that’s something we gotta work on.”
And after that, the Knicks can work on trying to again put the ball in the basket.
Thibs sounds off on tonight’s loss vs Philly:
