Knicks Re-Signing Landry Shamet After Preseason Injury

The New York Knicks have re-signed guard Landry Shamet, marking a return to the team after an unfortunate preseason setback, per NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.Landry Shamet, Knicks, NBA

Shamet, who initially joined the Knicks in September, was waived after suffering a dislocated shoulder in a preseason game.

At the time, he was widely viewed as a near-lock to make the regular season roster, with his shooting ability and experience making him a valuable asset for the team.

Now fully recovered, Shamet has rejoined the Knicks after playing for the team’s G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, where he averaged just under 11 points per game.

Throughout his six-year NBA career, Shamet has established himself as a reliable shooting guard, averaging 10.8 points in 22 minutes per game, with an impressive 38.4% shooting from beyond the arc.

New York coach Tom Thibodeau had spoken highly of Shamet during training camp, noting the guard’s ability to stretch the floor and provide valuable perimeter shooting.

Thibodeau specifically praised Shamet’s prior chemistry with new Knicks additions Mikal Bridges and Cameron Payne, both of whom came over from Phoenix in the offseason.

With the Knicks looking to improve their offensive balance, Shamet’s familiarity with these two players could help enhance the team’s cohesion and overall offensive execution.

As the Knicks continue their quest to build a more dynamic roster, the addition of a sharpshooter like Shamet should provide an important boost.

His ability to hit from deep and contribute offensively will be crucial as the team looks to make waves in a competitive Eastern Conference.
