The Knicks have made their entire roster available ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline at 3 p.m. EST, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.
Point guard Kemba Walker and shooting guard Evan Fournier, who we’ve relayed as primary trade candidates, remain the most likely to be dealt, Berman wrote.
But moving those two, and/or others, may prove to difficult for team president Leon Rose.
“He has to attach an asset to some of them,” an NBA personnel man told Berman. “Don’t think anyone is lining up at the door for Fournier’s contract.”
Assuming Berman’s report is 100 percent accurate, it means the Knicks would be looking to move power forward Julius Randle and guard/forward RJ Barrett — two names that would undoubtedly draw loads of interest.
Berman wrote that Randle “has perplexed the organization with his odd behavior and inefficient play, but his parting is likelier to occur in the offseason, when there are more options.”
As we’ve relayed previously, the Knicks also seem to be contemplating moving shooting guard Alec Burks and center Nerlens Noel. The Lakers are one team that is said to be interested in Burks.
Also, the Pistons reportedly are eyeing a trade for Knicks center Mitchell Robinson.
“The Knicks are still desperate for a point guard, but waiting until the offseason, when Jalen Brunson will be a free agent and Damian Lillard might ask for a trade, sounds like a better plan,” Berman noted.
Part of the Knicks’ issue, it seems, that they have a lot of people supposedly making decisions, from Rose to William “Worldwide Wes” Wesley to GM Scott Perry to perhaps even coach Tom Thibodeau, per Berman.
