The New York Knicks are making a late-season roster move, signing 6’7” forward MarJon Beauchamp to a two-way contract, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Beauchamp, the 24th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, has yet to carve out a consistent NBA role. After beginning his career with the Milwaukee Bucks, he was dealt to the Clippers at the trade deadline in exchange for Kevin Porter Jr. Beauchamp played 26 games off the bench for Milwaukee this season before the move but saw limited action in just three appearances for L.A.
The Knicks created room for Beauchamp by waiving Matt Ryan and Jacob Toppin on Sunday, leaving just Kevin McCullar as the team’s other two-way player. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Beauchamp will be eligible to suit up for 12 of New York’s 22 remaining regular-season games.
While his career averages of 4.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game may not jump off the page, Beauchamp brings length, athleticism, and defensive potential—attributes that could make him a useful depth piece for the Knicks as they gear up for a playoff push.
With New York dealing with injuries and seeking extra wing depth, Beauchamp now has an opportunity to prove he belongs in the league. If he can capitalize on his minutes, the Knicks may have found a valuable contributor for the stretch run.
