The Knicks have waived two-way rookie forward Jaylen Martin and are signing center Dmytro Skapintse to fill the void, the team announced.
With the injuries to Mitchell Robinson and Jericho Sims, New York is seeking help and depth in the frontcourt. Skapintse, 25, is 7-foot-1 and has been playing for Westchester of the G League, so he at least can offer a big body.
Beyond that, though, the Knicks may want to turn to a veteran, as Robinson is out for the season.
Martin, 19, is 6-foot-6 and has yet to appear in an NBA game. He very well could remain with the Westchester Knicks in the event no one else signs him.
Martin averaged 9.7 points in 16 Showcase Cup games with Westchester.
