Kristaps Porzingis, Wizards Talking Contract Extension

The Wizards and forward/center Kristaps Porzingis are in serious discussions on a contract extension, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.Kristaps Porzingis

Porzingis would exercise his $36 million player option in 2023-24 to sign a long-term deal, based on the talks, Charania added. Washington can offer him $180 million over four years.

Porzingis, 27, is 7-foot-3 and averaging 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 65 games this season.

The Wizards, currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, also have a contract decision coming up on forward Kyle Kuzma — who is expected to decline his player option and become an unrestricted free agent.

There is interest in a new deal from both Kuzma and the Wizards as well, Charania reported.
