Lakers’ LeBron James Expected to Miss Minimum of 2-3 Weeks

Lakers star forward LeBron James is expected to miss at least 2-3 weeks with a right foot injury, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.LeBron James

James suffered the injury in Sunday’s comeback win over the Mavericks. Charania first reported that James was expected to miss an “indefinite” amount of time, offering more details during his regular appearance on FanDuel TV.

James, 38, missed three games right before the All-Star Break with left foot and ankle soreness. He was walking with a “noticeable” limp following the road win over Dallas, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

The Lakers are fighting for a spot in the playoffs, or at least the play-in tournament, after making several trades at the deadline. But they are just 36-62 without James since he came to LA, and that includes a 5-9 mark this season, per McMenamin.

If the timeframe on James’ return is accurate, he would be back just before the playoffs. If that’s the case, you have to wonder if the Lakers will even still be in the running.

James is averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 47 games, having set the NBA’s all-time scoring record just before the break. He is shooting 50 percent from the field and 31 percent on 3-pointers.
