The Lakers have officially signed guard Lonnie Walker IV, general manager Rob Pelinka announced in a press release.
Walker’s deal is for one year and $6.5 million, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. He is one of multiple free agent pickups for LA, as the list also reportedly includes centers Thomas Bryant and Damian Jones, as well as wings Juan Toscano-Anderson and Troy Brown Jr.
Walker is coming off a season in which he averaged a career-high 12.1 points with the Spurs. Late last month, San Antonio pulled a qualifying offer to Walker, all but guaranteeing he would not return.
The Lakers will be looking for Walker to help replace the loss of guard Malik Monk, who is headed to the Kings, as we relayed here.
