Lakers make pair of roster moves

The Lakers made a pair of roster moves Friday, waiving William Kyle III and signing Rafael Castro.

Castro received an Exhibit 10 contract, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

The 23-year-old big man had signed a two-way contract with Houston in late August before the Rockets waived him earlier this month.

Castro went undrafted in June after spending his final two college seasons at George Washington. As a senior, he averaged 15.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.7 blocks while shooting 62.7 percent from the field.

He was also named to the All-Atlantic 10 second team and the conference’s All-Defensive team in each of his two seasons with the Revolutionaries.

Kyle had been in Lakers camp on an Exhibit 10 deal after signing in late September. The 6-foot-9 center/forward averaged 8.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks at Syracuse last season.

Because both players were on Exhibit 10-type paths, the moves could ultimately be tied to the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers.
