Lakers seeking more speed, linked to Hawks’ Dejounte Murray

As anyone can see, the Lakers don’t really look like contenders. They seem to recognize that with a month to go before the trade deadline, and very well could do something about it.Dejounte Murray

After all, if there’s one thing the Lakers don’t ever want to do, it’s be average. And guess where they are today?

Anyway, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT, Los Angeles is aiming to find some additional speed in the backcourt. Haynes said as much on TNT’s broadcast of the Lakers-Suns game, in which he served as sideline reporter, a regular gig for him.

So, who might the Lakers go after? Haynes followed up another report by suggesting Hawks guard Dejounte Murray is among their targets. In fact, he could be their primary target.

It likely helps that Murray is said to be entirely available, and that he’s represented by Rich Paul — who also happens to represent LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Paul has indicated that he doesn’t try to get his clients to become teammates, and based on history, he’s being honest. But it sure doesn’t hurt if they do.

Along with Murray, league sources have told Hoops Wire that the Lakers have at least a little interest in finding out what they would have to give up for Hornets guard Terry Rozier. Charlotte isn’t actively exploring a Rozier trade but would be a willing listener, sources said.

So again, it wouldn’t hurt for the very average Lakers to give the Hornets a buzz.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 8.
