The Lakers have signed guard Frank Mason III to an Exhibit 10 contract, the team announced in a press release.
Mason, 27, is 5-foot-11 and is the former G League MVP. He has been a journeyman of sorts for his NBA career, having spent time with the Kings, Bucks and Magic since being a second-round pick out of Kansas in 2017.
He has compiled NBA averages of 6.7 points, 2.6 assists and 2.0 rebounds in a total of 103 career NBA games. His deal with the Lakers is likely non-guaranteed.
The Lakers did not need to make a corresponding move after signing Mason, as they have an open spot on their 20-man roster. They reportedly waived rookie guard Mac McClung earlier in the day.
Both Mason and McClung are expected to wind up with the G League’s South Bay Lakers.
