LeBron James: Lakers must get something out of close win over Clippers

The Lakers beat the Los Angeles rival Clippers to snap a four-game losing streak on Sunday night, but LeBron James said there’s still work to be done.LeBron James

“We’ve got to continue to get better,” James told reporters. “Try to use this to catapult (us to play) a little bit better. Better play from us, but it still don’t take away from the fact of how we’ve been playing like the last 11, 12 games.”

The Lakers (18-19) held on for a 116-113 victory in what was considered a home game, but it wasn’t decided until Clippers guard Norman Powell just missed on a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.

“Overtime,” James said when asked what he thought while watching Powell’s attempt. “It looked like it was good for sure. Right on line.”

Big man Anthony Davis added that the Lakers showed extra resiliency.

“We played like we needed to win, like it was a must-win,” Davis said. “We competed on both sides of the basketball. We’ve just got to build off of it. We know what we have in the locker room. We know what it takes to win, and we displayed that tonight.”

James finished with 25 points, while Davis went for 22 points and 10 rebounds.
