There are no updates on Bronny James, who was hospitalized after a cardiac event suffered while working out on the USC campus earlier this week. But father and Lakers star LeBron James released a statement thanking those who have offered support.Bronny James speaks with father LeBron James

“I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers,” LeBron James tweeted on Thursday. “We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us!”

Bronny, 18, is set to be a freshman for the Trojans after an All-American career at Sierra Canyon (Calif.) High School. He went into cardiac arrest during a workout at USC and was rushed to the hospital. He was moved out of the ICU shortly thereafter and listed in stable condition. Reports suggest he remains at the hospital.

According to the LA Times

“Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the Galen Center, where USC practices, at 9:26 a.m. Monday for a medical emergency, according to a department spokeswoman. Bronny James lost consciousness and was taken ‘Code 3, lights and sirens’ to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center shortly after the ambulance arrived, according to a source who was not authorized to speak about the situation publicly.”

James is the second USC freshman basketball player to have suffered a cardiac event during a workout in a little more than a year. The same happened to Trojans center Vince Iwuchukwu, who was able to return to the court six months after collapsing at a practice last summer. Iwuchukwu wears a device that allows his heart to be monitored while he plays.

Pictures surfaced of LeBron James arriving at the hospital on Tuesday. Bryce James, Bronny’s younger brother, also posted a picture of the two together on social media.
