Magic’s eight-game win streak one shy of franchise record

And this particular win streak is one short of the franchise record set in 1994 and matched twice in this century. This after missing the playoffs last season. In fact, they last made it during the Disney Bubble of 2020.

They are doing it with balance and depth and a young cast — featuring the likes of forward Franz Wagner, center Paolo Banchero, guards Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs, and multiple others. And, of course, the coaching of Jamahl Mosley.

Of course, it’s incredibly early, so the Magic (13-5) are keeping everything in perspective.

“You start analyzing the schedule and things like that, you start to lose,” Suggs told reporters. “Attention to detail, I think that’s one thing that’s made this run, and this start of the season, so special for us. We’re so locked in in any situation.”

Orlando is coming off a 139-120 home win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, with Wagner calling it a “good example” of the team’s approach.

“I think it’s really cool the way we’re figuring out how we want to play, and this game was a good example,” he said. “The first half we were up 10 but we weren’t playing the way we want to play, and it’s good that we have that awareness.

“We don’t (just) want to be really good now; I want to be really good at the end of the season, and that’s why we’re going to keep getting better.”
