Mavs’ Jason Kidd Latest Coach To Enter Protocols

Mavericks coach Jason Kidd has entered the league’s health and safety protocols, the team announced in a press release.

Kidd is in his first season coaching the Mavs and becomes the 13th head coach (of 30) to enter protocols this year.

Assistant Sean Sweeney will serve as head coach in Kidd’s absence, the team said.

Other coaches to enter protocols this season: the Pacers’ Rick Carlisle, Lakers’ Frank Vogel, Suns’ Monty Williams, 76ers’ Doc Rivers, Nuggets’ Michael Malone, Trail Blazers’ Chauncey Billups, Thunder’s Mark Daigenault, Bulls’ Billy Donovan, Clippers’ Tyronn Lue, Hawks’ Nate McMillan, Bucks’ Mike Budenholzer and Kings interim man Alvin Gentry.

Kidd, 48, has also coached the Nets and Bucks and has compiled a 203-208 record overall.

The Mavericks (20-18) have won four straight and five of six. Star guard Luka Doncic is listed as doubtful with an ankle injury for Friday night.
