Mavs’ Kyrie Irving Expected to Miss Third Straight Game

Star guard Kyrie Irving is expected to miss a third straight game Wednesday, when the Mavericks face the Spurs.Kyrie Irving

Irving has missed the previous two games with right foot soreness, with ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reporting it appears to be specific to Irving’s big toe. Irving said the possibility of playing against the Spurs is “not looking good,” via MacMahon.

Since coming over in the February trade with the Nets, Irving has appeared in 11 games and is averaging 27.5 points and 6.6 assists, teaming with Luka Doncic in the Dallas backcourt (when healthy).

Overall, the Mavs have been fairly uneven since the deal, winning just three of their previous 10. They stand at 34-35 overall and in ninth place in the Western Conference. So it’s safe to say the trade for Irving has yet to help them reach the heights they had hoped.

There is still time, but for now, Dallas looks worse since the deal.
