The Mavericks intend to sign guard Facundo Campazzo to a one-year contract, according to Aris Barkas of EuroHoops.
Campazzo, 31, is 5-foot-10 and hails from Argentina. He has spent the past two seasons with the Nuggets, appearing in 65 games in each. Last season, he averaged 5.2 points and 3.4 assists, shooting just 36 percent from the field.
Recent reports suggested he was headed to Real Madrid, though agents David Carro and Claudio Villanueva denied those rumors last month.
“Facu wants to stay in the NBA and we are working on that,” Carro and Villanueva said at the time, via EuroHoops. “All the rest is pure smoke and lies. The market timings are different. That’s all.”
As an aside, Campazzo was once teammates with Mavs star guard Luka Doncic with Real Madrid.
“With Campazzo getting the 15th spot on the Mavericks roster, Tyler Dorsey who has a two-way contract remains in danger of being cut before the start of the season, per Eurohoops sources,” Barkas wrote.
