NBA Draft Notes: Scoot Henderson, Blazers, Wizards, Warriors

G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson worked out for the Trail Blazers on Saturday and indicated he is expected to do the same with the Hornets soon.Scoot Henderson

Henderson is widely expected to be drafted either second by Charlotte or third by Portland. Alabama forward Brandon Miller is expected to be selected either a spot ahead or behind Henderson.

“You always want a guy like me, that dog mentality,” Henderson said, via Casey Holdahl of Blazers.com. “Just my personality, the culture I bring to the locker room. I’m a great leader, I’ll tell what’s up and I can do everything on the floor. I can do everything on the floor. I’m going to go out there and give my 110 percent every day. And that’s the thing about me: I’m very consistent in effort. Even if it’s not there, I just try to even it out the next game, try to get right to it. Give it a 120 if I didn’t give it 110 the last game.”

  • The Wizards worked out six draft prospects on Saturday, per Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington: George Washington guard Brendan Adams, Providence forward Ed Crosswell, Marshall guard/forward Taevion Kinsey, South Alabama guard Isaiah Moore, LSU power forward KJ Williams, and Kansas State point guard Markquis Nowell.
  • The Warriors are scheduled to work out six players on Monday, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic: Duke center Dereck Lively II, Kansas forward Jalen Wilson, Florida forward Colin Castleton, Kansas State guard/forward Keyontae Johnson and Creighton forward Arthur Kaluma,
  • Belmont shooting guard Ben Sheppard is climbing the draft boards, per Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report. Sheppard is 6-foot-6 and reportedly performed well at the NBA Combine. He has worked out individually for the Hawks and Jazz, and has workouts scheduled with the Pelicans and Warriors, per Wasserman.
  • Hoops Wire has Sheppard going No. 51 to the Nets in our latest mock draft. But Wasserman reported he’s in the mix for the first round. (Full HW mock.)
