The tone around Giannis Antetokounmpo has shifted.
What was once speculation is now something closer to expectation.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps, multiple executives at the draft combine believe the Bucks are headed toward a trade involving their franchise star this offseason.

“It just feels like they’re done with the circus,” one Eastern Conference executive said. “They seem to want a clean break and to move on.”
Milwaukee appears to be approaching a decision point.
Co-owner Jimmy Haslam has targeted the NBA draft as a soft deadline, giving the front office a window to either reshape the roster around Antetokounmpo or pivot toward a rebuild built around a potential trade return.
There is also a timing element. Antetokounmpo has one year left on his deal plus a player option, and he becomes eligible for a four-year, $275 million extension on October 1. League belief is that if he remains with the Bucks at that point, he signs it.
History suggests players in this position often steer the process. Deals involving Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis reshaped the league in similar situations, and executives expect Antetokounmpo’s case to follow a familiar path.
There are new variables as well. The NBA’s expected lottery reform could make teams more hesitant to part with future picks, potentially impacting the structure of any deal.
Still, the overall view remains clear. “If someone can get Giannis, they might win the offseason,” an East executive said.
