NBA expected to release 2026-27 schedule next week

The wait is almost over.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the NBA is expected to release its full 2026-27 regular-season schedule sometime next week. 

This is not a surprise. The league generally releases its schedule around August 11-15. (Fittingly, just before the NFL preseason gets into full swing.)

Also, commissioner Adam Silver may have dropped a hint that this was coming.

A few weeks ago, Silver joked that the league was waiting for LeBron James to decide where he’d play before finalizing the schedule. James signed with the 76ers, clearing one of the offseason’s biggest remaining questions.

As in previous years, the NBA is expected to unveil portions of the schedule, including Opening Night and the Christmas Day slate, before releasing the complete schedule.

Opening Night is expected to be Oct. 20.

Meanwhile, the league has already announced several key dates. The Emirates NBA Cup tips off Oct. 30, with the championship game set for Dec. 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The NBA’s annual Paris Game will feature the Spurs and Pelicans on Jan. 14, followed by the NBA London Game between the same teams on Jan. 17.

Along with all that, the All-Star Game returns to Phoenix from Feb. 19-21, and the trade deadline is scheduled for Feb. 11.

Now, all that’s left is finding out who plays whom, and when.
