NBA Free Agency: Heat, Tim Hardaway Jr, Timberwolves, Bones Hyland, Bucks

Heat

The Heat have added another experienced perimeter scorer.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Miami has reached an agreement with veteran wing Tim Hardaway Jr. Shams Charania of ESPN reported the deal is for one year and $6.5 million.

Hardaway, 34, is coming off a productive season with the Nuggets, averaging 13.5 points while shooting 40.7 percent from three-point range. He also finished third in Sixth Man of the Year voting after helping stabilize Denver’s second unit.

The addition gives Miami another outside shooting threat as the franchise continues reshaping its roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

Timberwolves

The Timberwolves are bringing back guard Bones Hyland.

According to The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski, Hyland has agreed to a one-year contract, with Darren Wolfson reporting it will be for the veteran minimum.

Hyland averaged 8.5 points and 2.6 assists in 71 games last season while providing quality depth off Minnesota’s bench.

The former first-round pick is expected to remain part of the Timberwolves’ backcourt rotation after reviving his career over the past two seasons in Minnesota.

Bucks

The Bucks are keeping forward Ousmane Dieng.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Milwaukee has agreed to a three-year, $17.5 million contract with Dieng. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported the final season includes a team option.

Dieng became an unrestricted free agent after the Bucks declined to extend him a qualifying offer, but the two sides instead agreed to a longer-term contract at a lower annual salary.

After arriving from Oklahoma City at last season’s trade deadline, Dieng averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 30 games with Milwaukee.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo now in Miami, Dieng is expected to receive an opportunity to compete for a larger role next season.
