The Cleveland Cavaliers keep rewarding those who play well for their G League affiliate, and point guard Sharife Cooper is the latest to be thankful for it.
That’s because the Cavs have signed Cooper to a 10-day contract, the team announced in a press release.
This follows the signings of forward Pete Nance and shooting guard Zhaire Smith to 10-day deals earlier this season. Nance has since been signed to a two-way contract. Smith is back with the Cleveland Charge.
Cooper, 22, is averaging 18.5 points, 7.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.47 steals with the Charge in 19 games, starting all. He was a member of Cleveland’s 2023 NBA Summer League championship team and attended training camp with the Cavs.
Originally selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the No. 48 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Cooper has appeared in 13 NBA games, all during his rookie year of 2021-22. He was waived by the Hawks at the end of July 2022, and then signed on with the Cavs a few months later. He’s been with the organization since in some way, shape, or form.
The Cavs (37-19) currently sit in first place in the Central Division and second in the Eastern Conference. You can check out the latest Dribbles here.
